Only 3 BIG12 schools financially viable as expansion targets.
Kansas brings basketball (Best fit: SEC, upgrades basketball & creates a true rival for Missouri.)
Oklahoma brings all sports (Best fit: SEC, upgrades basketball & good landing spot for Olympics sports. ACC, BIG, & PAC12 would be viable if SEC doesn't select them.)
Texas brings all sports & millions of tv sets (Best fit would be any P4 but LHN will have to be converted to an ACC network or disappear entirely if BIG, PAC12, or SEC. ) Texas could go the independent route, but would have to find a home for all other sports.
The fly in the ointment is all but the ACC would want 2 schools. Can't see the ACC going to 17 schools for all other sports. So one conference gets 2 of the 3 or has to select a lesser school to get to 16 ( I think 16 is the number for the next 10 years at least, if any expansion takes place.)
I think the ACC would only want Texas, but with no strings attached. This would force ND to make a decision, join for football and bring in Navy before Texas is offered a place or stay independent and cut ties with the ACC, allowing the ACC to add another school for all sports.
These are just random thoughts, but all eyes will be on the BIG12 for the foreseeable future and keep this board around.
